recently underwent a successful liver transplant operation at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla, a spokesman for the singer announced on June 23, 2010. The Allman Brothers Band member has struggled with drug problems and recently battled the liver disease Hepatitis C. “I changed my ways years ago,” Allman was quoted as saying in a statement. “But we can’t turn back time. Every day is a gift, and I can’t wait to get back on the road making music with my friends.”
Gregory was released from the hospital Friday (7/2) and is now staying nearby with friends for follow-up care. “I got up early and watched the sunrise on the beach this morning, which was amazing” he says. “I’m feeling pretty good and moving around well and we’re going to start talking soon about getting back out on the road, later this year.”
Our Congratulations to Gregg! We wish him a speedy recovery and hope his story will give those suffering from Hep C and other liver disease hope!
